Southside Summer Family Food Hubs

11 August 2020

Thanks to funding from St John’s FoundationFeeding Britain and B&NES Council, Southside is providing Summer Holiday Family Food Hub Groups throughout August. These are attached to our four hub groups across Bath and North East Somerset – Peasedown St John, Keynsham, Foxhill and Twerton.

Our groups will enable families to access a healthy cooked meal one day per week and connect with the Southside team in a safe and socially distanced way. These groups are great opportunities for Southside workers and volunteers to ‘check in’ with families, help them to access support and family activity ideas.

The meals have been planned by a professional chef focusing on meals that are nutritious, affordable, easy to make at home. He is cooking the meals at accessible centres in the heart of local communities for children, young people and families to take away with guidance on how to cook the meals at home together in future. You can download recipe cards for Spaghetti Bolognese and Vegetable Pasta Bake, two of the delicious meals being prepared for families.

The groups are taking place at Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John on Mondays, St Francis’ Church in Keynsham on Tuesdays, St Andrew’s Community Church in Foxhill on Wednesdays and The Rec House in Twerton on Thursdays.

Southside’s Summer Holiday Family Food Hub Groups is one of twelve projects funded through the Holiday Food Grants Programme to support children and young people in Bath and North East Somerset during this difficult summer for so many families because of the impact of the Covid-19 crisis.
